[LISTEN]

__

Hot 30: Yeah, My Chemical Romance, they are in the country. Ray is on right now. Good to talk to you, mate!

Ray Toro: Yeah, good talking to you too!

Hot 30: I love the album and a lot of people on our our Twitter are saying they love it as well. We do a thing called “twinterviews” here where we let the fans write questions on Twitter for you guys. All you’ve got to do is go to “#Hot30Twinterview” if you do want to send one through.

Now, we had [Username] has sent one that said, “Would you guys ever consider doing another concept album like you did for The Black Parade?”

Ray Toro: It’s tricky. Uhm, we try not to repeat ourselves as much as we can, you know? I feel like each album we do does have some kind of connection or some kind of concept in a sense like that. Black Parade, I think, was our best attempt at a concept record. I don’t know. If we do go back to that, I think it might be a while. We’re always trying to find a new thing for us. You know: keep us excited, keep us interested and keep people listening to us. That’s the most important thing, I think, for music—for our music—is to constantly change and reinvent ourselves and find what the new sound is.

Hot 30: Really, it depends if you’ve got time to shoot those film clips, because—man, God—they were epic on that album.

Ray Toro: [laughs] We were real lucky to work with some great directors and great art designers and stuff, so…

Hot 30: [@Username] has sent one, too, and says, “How is Frank feeling about being a dad? How is he finding that and touring?”

Ray Toro: Oh, man. Him and Gerard, too, they’re like the best fathers. I mean, they’re incredible. I definitely look up to them. Frank pretty much Skypes every day with his kids, and the same thing with Gerard. They’re both great parents, great fathers, and I’ll hopefully someday be as good as them, because it’s definitely tough when you’re out on the road and way from your family. Luckily, we have technology to help make the connection a little bit better, but—you know—it’s not the same as being in the same room with them and ebing able to hold them and put them to sleep, so I know it’s hard for them, but they do a great job.

Hot 30: A lot of people are talking about the things that the band has gone through recently with losing a drummer, and I know there was some stuff between the band there. Is there anything the band wants to say about the situation?

Ray Toro: Naah… [laughs] If you want our answer on it, you can go and read the website—the blog that we put up. We said we weren’t really going to talk about it anymore, so that’s going to be how it is.

Hot 30: I get that, and I think it’s great that you guys are still doing the door, because it’s sad to see when a band breaks up, and then it all kind of falls apart, but I saw you guys play, and it’s like nothing’s ever happened…

Ray Toro: Well, nothing did happen. He was never a part of the band. So, that’s why it didnt really matter. We just found another guy who was great on the drums and kept going, so.

Hot 30: Before we wrap it up, I want to know: How many times—(I’m not even going to ask you about it, I just want to know)—How many times have you been asked about Gerard’s red hair?

Ray Toro: [laughs] I don’t know at least 179…179,000 times.

Hot 30: Totally. You need to just up it one and dye your downstairs region pink or something... (Editor’s note: WTF is with this guy?)

Ray Toro: Yeah, maybe that…

Hot 30: The latest album, …The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, the latest single “The Kids From Yesterday” getting plenty of votes here on the Hot 30—

Ray Toro: Very cool-

Hot 30: Mate, I really appreciate you taking your time out. Have a great show tonight!

Ray Toro: Alright. Thank you very much!
